Day 4


To Maxwell Food Centre for breakfast: 3 different types of carrot cake and then the irresistible Tian Tian chicken rice.Walk to Yixing Xuan Teahouse where Vincent Low teaches about drinking and choosing tea. Fortuitous bus to Hua Fong Kee Roast Duck: 1/2 roast duck,crispy pork, and char siu-followed by another 1/2 duck and more crispy pork. Taxi to Tom's Palette for delish ice cream. Settle into 22nd floor bar of hotel to watch National Day Parade and fireworks accompanied by shitty food and drink. Dinner at Brewerkz: pork ribs and a reuben sandwich

Day 3


Fruit and juice at hotel then by bus to Little India; walk to Madras New Woodlands Restaurant for Paper Dosai breakfast. Walk to Mustafa Centre and stock up on 117 bars of Hazelnut Milk chocolate. Walk to Muthus and fest on Fish Head Curry,mutton curry etc.Back tohotel for snooze then visit rooftop of the Marina Bay Hotel and then Salvador Dali exhibition at the Art Science Museum. Taxi to East Coast Rd and eat delish chicken rice-walk to Astens for an ieat super burger but they have run out of buns(sic). Catch taxi to Brewerkz-start with a single malt and then beer and a very acceptable burger-walk back to hotel.

Day 2

Thasevi Roti Prata Restaurant
Fruit & juice at hotel although tempted by sumptious selection of kraft cheddar slices(plastic on,just as I like it),baked beans,tiptop bread and other delicacies. Taxi ride to burbs to find Thasevi Prata Roti restaurant-garlic roti,egg & onion roti, cheese roti, chicken and mutton curry and ice coffee(breakfast of champions). Taxi to Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle outlet for Bak Chor Mee, a wacky mixture of noodles,pork, fish, fish balls, wonton, mushrooms,chicken liver and soup-half hour wait in queue but view maestro preparing food-Verict:Very Shiok! Then shopping Orchard Rd.-gimungus book shop plus every manner of consumer goods-P returns to hotel for sleep and swim. Dinner with Andrew T at Ah Yat seafood restaurant at old Bukat Timah Racecourse-A orders up a storm:razor clams, steamed prawns, groper, black pepper crab, chilli crab, duck noodles and mango pudding-limo to hotel and then walk around bar area for drinks.

Day 1

BBQ Pork Belly at Gluttons Bay
Arrive with plenty of time at Tulla-book in luggage but hand-luggage is overweight requiring judicious juggling of contents. Meet P,check him in, customs etc and then partake of great baguette courtesy of Cafe Vue. Board plane and sleep well thanks to to the pharmaceutical industry-shocking breakfast on plane. Taxi to hotel,leave luggage and head out to Komala Vilas for Masala Dosai breakfast,wander around food market, then taxi to Zam Zam(closed early for Ramadan)-search unsuccesfully for coffe but P buys stylish swimmers at Mustafa Centre-return to Zam Zam for 1 chicken and 1 beef Murtabak. Taxi to Chinatown to Maxwell food centre and Tian Tian Hainenese Chicken rice-so good we order seconds-P talks to owner who tells us that skin is removed for foreigners-try sample with skin on-even better. Afternoon sleep then off to toDarling Harbouresque area for wonderful beers, walk to Gluttonsbay Food Court for Prawn Hokkien Me and BBQ pork belly and then home.
